The $100 tick
Well, actually more like $120 if you count gas. I don't know what's going on out there, but ticks are everywhere! In the 7-8 years we've lived here, I've only had to brush one off my clothes maybe twice. This past week, I've had to remove two from my actual skin! ICK!
This afternoon, tick number two did NOT want to go. I tried covering him with an alcohol-soaked tissue, but he still held on tenaciously. When I finally did manage to pull him loose, a small piece stayed behind. I couldn't get it out no way no how and ended up having to get a doctor to administer a little local anesthetic and dig it out. Even he had a booger of a time with it and it took him about 15-20 minutes.
Somehow, though I was totally freaked and grossed out by the whole thing, I managed to think to take the vermin with me. The nurse put it in a little jar of formaldehyde and promised they'd send it off for testing.
$90 for the dig and $11 for the doxycycline, not to mention the gas driving from one end of the county to the other to find a doctor who had an opening. Yes, I suppose I will take the doxy, though I have shunned prescription drugs for about 20 years now. Somehow, I don't think echinacea covers the possibility of lyme disease.
God, of course, made good use of this whole mess. First, the nurse who took my vitals is a Christian and we had a great, albeit short, conversation about binding out fear and confusion. And she found that my blood pressure was a bit more elevated than it should be, even under tick terror alert. So I picked up some Lycopene and printed out the DASH diet plan. Oh, and the doctor sort of offhandedly kinda invited me to think about going on one of his mission trips. He's also very much into photography and we discussed cameras and such while he dug a hole in my neck.
So, if y'all happen to think of me over the next few weeks, I'd surely appreciate any and all prayers re my efforts to be healthier. And that I don't see any more ticks!
Have a JESUS-filled day! ^i^

Been praying and will continue to do so. There are few folks who are as honest as you. I am glad you fasted from media for the sake of your relationship with God. I am beginning a fast this next week from some things that I feel are hindering me but didn't really ever notice them until this last week. Isn't the mirror of God an interesting thing? finding myself ever circling in the cycle of growth. From infancy to toddler hood to child etc and back again the next day to start all over again with the same rudamentary steps. One thing is for sure, being a Christian is never dull. Have a great Sunday and when are you going to post more great pictures? I love your pictures. Makes my son want to visit every county in Florida. We are going to St. Augustine for vacation and we will only have a week so we won't be up your way but we get to take a sunset sail cruise and explore light houses which makes me really happy. I LOVE history and how everything weaves together. I love mostly the nuances of the details of individuals who fought for obsure liberties seemingly and ended up saving mankind. Hugs girly.:sunny:
I miss you. And I pray for you.
